Standard substrates
Characteristics and transmission curves are given for the most common substrate materials as well as detailed information about Fused Silica, N-BK7, special glasses, Fluorides, Sapphire, YAG, Si, ZnSe and Ge.
Stock substrates
LASEROPTIK offers a wide range of substrate materials and sizes. Standards like plane windows, lenses or wedges are stored steadily for a fast reaction time.

Frequently asked questions
What substrate sizes can be coated?
The limits are 2 m for length and 550 mm for diameter.
We already coated on very small and large surfaces, from Ø 0.088 mm (fibers) up to 1850 x 210 mm².
What substrate materials can be coated?
LASEROPTIK has already coated more than 300 different substrate materials, from AgGaS2 to ZnSe.
Besides standard glasses and crystals like Fused Silica, CaF2 and MgF2, and other common types such as crown or flint glass made by SCHOTT, CORNING, HOYA, NIKON or OHARA, we offer optimized coating designs and techniques, substrate handling and coating fixtures especially for wafers, metals, 3D-optics, fibers, glass cells and UHV windows.

Does LASEROPTIK offer its own substrates?
Yes, we can offer standard sizes from stock but also customized ones.
In cooperation with European substrate suppliers, we can supply any requested size and glass material.

Does LASEROPTIK have uncoated curved substrates in stock?
Yes, we have a wide range of different standard sizes in stock, mainly with a diameter of 12.7 mm or 25 mm. Please note that the focal length differs for the same radius of curvature (ROC), if a lens is used in transmission or reflection.
Plano-concave lenses are available in the range of -20 m ≤ ROC ≤ -10 mm and for plano-convex with +25 mm ≤ ROC ≤ +10 m. Zero lenses and cavity lenses are also available from stock. Customized substrates are available on request.
Does LASEROPTIK offer substrates with a superior polishing quality?
Yes, besides standard substrates, which already have a high quality, we can offer stock substrates with superior polishing quality, needed for low loss optics and supermirrors. LASEROPTIK offers two classes of substrates with optimized roughness:
“Premium”: RMS < 0.2 nm
“Super-polished”: RMS < 0.1 nm
